Dr. Foley's particular areas of research interest and expertise are:
on- and off-shore wind power,
off-shore wind power resource assessment and forecasting using Computational Fluid Dynamics,
pumped hydro energy storage, compressed air energy storage and battery energy storage,
demand side management, intelligent ICT and electric vehicles,
compressed natural gas vehicles,
future proofing the built environment against extreme weather events and global warming,
wholesale and retail electricity market modelling and analysis,
power and gas transmission systems and the European Super Grid.
